HEAD GRADIENTS
The use of a head gradient coil insert together with a whole body gradient coil allows for higher gradient strength and potentially higher stimulation limits.
The use of a head gradient coil insert can result in higher resolution imaging, in particular of the inner ear.
Important factors in head gradient coil design are:
- Design of the head gradient coil insert's magnetic field to match the whole body gradient's magnetic field
- Robust, durable and rigid construction to maintain a fixed position within the whole body magnetic field
- Efficient cooling of the head gradient
Are used in combination with Whole body gradients within MRI systems for superior imaging.
